My Christmas Winter Run

The crisp clean air expanding my lungs with every breath I take.
A visual bounty of nature’s beauty passing me by with every stride I make.

My inner being soothed by silence all around.
Only the pounding of my heart, the breaths that I take, and the soft pat of my feet striking the ground.

Alone on my run, but company nearby.
A deer in the wood, a squirrel scurrying in the leaves, and a cardinal in the sky.

The icy wooden bridge creaks with each gingerly taken footstep I take.
The sounds awaken a Blue Heron who majestically takes flight across the lake.

The soft white flakes falling from the sky add even more calm to this much needed run.
Each fallen flake a burden taken from my plate.

What a wonderful gift on this Christmas day.
Nothing better to take those silly life worries away.

What a nice poem! We had a nice surprise on our Christmas day trail run; someone decorated some trees several miles into the woods on the Deep River Trail at the Piedmont Environmental Center! With the snow falling and the decorated trees it was really beautiful!

Nice recommendations, any suggestions for shorts? I got some new Adidas ones (review on my blog) and not very pleased at all.

Nice picture and poem. Perfectly sums up a quiet snowy run.

Hi Boris! I wish my quads were so large that my short felt tight. LOL! I can see how that would be annoying. This may sound like an odd place for shorts but LuLu Lemon that's known for yoga clothing makes a dang great pair of running shorts. They're a little longer, so they may work for you. But you may want to measure your quad and then inquire about the leg diamter of the shorts.

You may want to consider eigher going to t racing short where the inseam would hit above your quad or go loner with a 9" or 10" inseam. Nike has some in both lengths that work well.

Happy New Year, man!
