And the Winner Is......

RunnerDude's first contest was a great success! First, I'd like to thank all the runners that submitted a running mantra. Second, I'd like to thank all the readers who voted. Amy Read's mantra "I Am Hard-Core!" received the most votes. Congratulations Amy!! As the winner, Amy will receive a $50 gift certificate from Road Runner Sports! Second place goes to Stuart's "Tough times pass. Tough people remain." There was a tie for third place with Jennifer Tran's "Don't quit. COMMIT!" and Carol King's "Relax. Breathe. Have fun!"

  1. It's completely awesome. Thanks to everyone who voted for my mantra.

I am completely new to running (started in March of 2008), but what I've learned so far has been wonderfully influential and beneficial.

My mantra "I am hard-core" gets me over the rough spots and reminds me of how 'intensely loyal' (one random meaning of hard-core) I can be to myself and to everyone around me.

    Keep running. :)

  2. Congrats Amy! Your mantra certainly is a motivator! I even used it yesterday to get me through the 80% humidity during my 11-miler!
